A new wedding this weekend

On saturday I´m up for my second wedding as a photographer. Amir and Silje, some beautiful friends of mine are getting married in Oslo, Norway. I really look forward to it. Not only to be a part of the wedding, but also to get a new opportunity to shoot in a wedding.

Last time I took pictures in a wedding was a year ago and I had great fun and the result become quite nice.

Last year I borrowed a Nikon d3s which is an amazing camera. This time I will use my Canon 7D together with a Canon 5D Mark II that I have borrowed from a friend. I really look forward to have two cameras to switch between. It makes it so much easier to get both the details and overview without using time to change lenses.

The plan is to use a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8, a Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 and a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8. I will also bring a flash and reflectors for the outdoor shots of the couple and family. The rest of the plan is just to have fun and relax :-)

I guess there will be a post after the weekend with some shots and experiences.

If your interested, some of the shots from my first wedding is posted at my portfolio.

MAN AM I LUCKY by naustvikphotography.com

This split second, standing at Zanzibars shores watching a new day rises was one of many moments I felt totally free during my trip around the world. At the same time I felt so humble knowing that I´m probably one of the luckiest person in the world being able to leave my ordinary life and just explore and enjoy life. No worries, appointments or any other disturbing elements, just pure life for seven months! Man am I lucky.

A night at Lier Mental Hospital

The old Lier Mental Hospital was abandoned in 1986 and still is. We arrived at 04:00 in the morning, and hoped that we would avoid meeting the local kids who sometimes uses this place to drink, look for ghosts and scare each other.

We had some peaceful but also scary hours inside the abandoned building, all alone, or at least we liked to believe that we were alone. The rumor says that the staff at Lier Mental Hospital tested new medicines, lobotomy, electroshocks and drugs like LSD on the patients.

During the years 1941 to 1981 it is estimated that more than 3000 people were lobotomized in Norway, many of theme right here in this building.

193 days around the world

The last seven months has been quite an adventure. An amazing journey around the world filled with exciting adventures, beautiful scenery, great people, and first and foremost a much-needed break from everyday life back home in Norway.

San Antonio de los Cobres

As a passionate hobby photographer, the journey has also been a fantastic opportunity to develop my photographic skills even further. More than 40,000 exposures has been taken during the trip. Most of them just average, but some of them doesn´t look too bad.

The Savanna in Serengeti

During the fall I hope to get the shots organized, rated and processed. It´s a huge job but I´m still optimistic after my first selection round. I will probably post some more about this project along the way, both my experiences in using Lightroom as a workflow tool and some tips & tricks based on my experience from the trip. My dream is to be able to realize a photo project in 2012. I guess we´ll just have to see what happens :-)

Last year (2010) I was asked to take some pictures in a wedding to some friends of mine. This shot is one of my personal favorites, taken when the bride arrives at the church a bit stressed and late.
